The Streets / Future Sounds of London - It's Too Late (High Contrast Remix) / Papua New Guinea (Nu:Tone Remix)
You didn’t know it was over, until it was too late. But if they ever needed you, would you be there?
Today, I’m bringing you two remixes from a sleuth of artists. These are older tracks on a whitelabel, so it should be an interesting hit. For those who are in to the UK Garage scene, and UK Indie in general, the name of The Streets should strike a bell. High Contrast is here remixing one of their better songs “It’s Too Late” from their Original Pirate Material album. This was is definitely the better track of the two sides, as most A-Sides typically are. This song, if i remember correctly, is the successor to High Contrasts 2002 remix of Has It Come To This, a delicious track as well. Of course, Youtube shitbags will flame anything with a comment box, but us here at Identical Octagons/Helvetica know how to set things off proper.
On the opposite side is an older name that should ring a bell. Nu:Tone is remixing the Future Sounds of London’s track Papua New Guinea. For those who don’t exactly remember who Nu:Tone is, he’s a heavy producer and mixer alongside High Contrast and the Hospital Records label. This is a lighter track with an eerie feminine voice throughout it. Nothing too heavy or flat. The opposite side is much better, though.

good morning! WEFUNK Show 585
DJ Ilya is back in the WEFUNK studio with a solid 45-only set, featuring soul favorites from Willie Hutch and Pearl Dowell, rough drums from Wilson Pickett and Dyke & The Blazers, and Ken Lazarus’ fantastic Jamaican take on a Marvin Gaye classic. And there’s more… Two special blends by DJ Static (Grand Puba & Outkast), Phil-Marilyn & Marilyn’s wacky disco/cartoon mashup from 1980, and a lost Jackson 5 single from Motown’s vaults.

Rappers Remixed
Lets start with Lil Wayne’s track “Fireman’s So Cold” being remixed by none other than A-Trak. This is a wicked little track, really quite cool track, with a dancehall/ reggae vibe. This is not new from Lil Wayne, but I haven’t heard it before, and its some decent Lil Wayne rapping, catchy little chorus. If you haven’t heard this before, worth a listen.

This next one is Gucci Mane’s “Dangers Not a Stranger” remixed by Diplo. I love this tune, real catchy, real bassy. Don’t know much about Gucci Mane, he not done anything in the UK, but with the amount of tracks he’s featuring on lately it appears he is very popular state side. Diplo does great on this track, turns it into something that would sound cool in a club and I can’t get enough of it at the moment.
Gucci Mane – Dangers Not a Stranger (Diplo Remix)
Last here I completely found by accident it another Lil Wayne remix, this time of the track “I Feel Like Dying” remixed by Flying Lotus. I don’t know anything about this track, its just one of bassiest things I’ve ever heard. It pretty much a non stop bass line that will shake your inside if you turn it up loud enough. Which I recommend!
