Gucci Mane, MTV’s #6 “Hottest MC in the Game” is dropping some new heat on “The Burrprint: The 3-D Movie” mixtape with DJ Drama. As much as people may hate that his lyrical ability is straight TRASH… the songs he has are same bangers, simply for those trunk-rattling beats. Shouts out to Zaytoven, and whoever else gives Gucci those joints. Anyway, if you a fan, you already know… load it up and crank it up, you’ll vibe to at least 3-4 of these joints. After the jump, I got the tracklist and the video clip on the MTV committee that gave Mr. Mane such honor.

So if it isn’t his rhyme schemes that have been winning him new fans and accolades and keeping his core satisfied, what is it? Simply put, Gucci is a character.”

Day 32: Reading the Odyssey

Today we started WordSkills Unit 2 and learned how to read The Odyssey using sticky notes.

1. The Simpsons. To start class, we watched 6 minutes of The Simpsons so students would know the general story before we started reading. Not only does this give students a concrete example of the term “allusion,” but it also allows them to experience The Odyssey the same way its original listeners did: as an audience familiar with the plot before the first line was even spoken. Because this was an orally delivered poem and based on historical events, The Iliad and The Odyssey were commonly known stories. Therefore, it is crucial students have some understanding of the arc of the story, even if it is cursory (as it was for many audience members as well, only told to them by a family member or friend). I hope this is adequate justification for those of you who may be a bit skeptical. Students are always welcome to excuse themselves from any viewing they are not comfortable watching.
2. WordSkills 2.1-2.5. If you were absent you need to get notes from a friend on the first five prefixes. They are also posted under the WordSkills tab.
3. How to Take Reading Notes using Stickies. Any absent students need to download this form (How to Take Sticky Notes Web), which explains how to do the homework. In class we practiced taking notes using the first page of The Odyssey, p. 651 in the textbook. Because The Odyssey is a difficult and dense text, I need everyone to slow down while reading it. On each page of your book, you need to summarize what happened, point out any important lines (with arrows on your sticky), write down any questions, and add a thought about characterization (What are this character’s motives? Desires? Strengths? Weaknesses? point out the lines that tell you so).

HW: Read “I Am Laertes’ Son” p. 656-658. Take notes on stickies. Use at least 2-3 stickies per page. Follow the directions on the “How to Take Reading Notes on Stickies” for ideas. If you have your own copy of The Odyssey, you do not need to use sticky notes. You may write directly in your margins.

Please, if you have your own copy of the book… Please, please, please, feel free to read ahead and read much more than what we are reading in class. I highly encourage all Honors students to obtain their own copies of the book, translated by Robert Fagles, and read it straight through. I will be overjoyed if you bring up things that we haven’t talked about in class.

Review: Ion Assault

“We feel bad for all the people who will probably take one look at Ion Assault and write it off as yet another generic arena space shooter. They’ll be missing out on what’s probably one of the coolest mechanics we’ve seen in the genre. And yes, this is every bit as satisfying as it sounds.”

Metal Gear Solid - O filme (feito por fãs)

Alguns dias atrás foi lançado o  filme METAL GEAR SOLID PHILANTHROPY, filme feito por fãs, sem fins lucrativos. O filme que começou como uma simples brincadeira acabou tomando forma e foco e acabou sendo lançando em forma de um longa com pouco mais que uma hora de duração. O filme possui distribuição gratuita (emule e torrent) ou pode ser assistido diretamente pelo youtube (dividido em partes)  Nesse Canal.

O produtor do filme e ator que interpreta o snake, Giacomo Talamini diz que tentou reunir partes dos três primeiros jogos para que ficasse o mais fiel possível ao jogo e agradar todo mundo que é fã como ele da série.  Para mais informações,legendas em várias linguas (inclusive português) e download, acesse o site oficial!

muitos shows... e vinil?!

e aproveitando pra dizer que ta bombando de shows do Huaska e Dest_lado

teve show do Dest_lado de novo em Rio Claro e sabado que vem voltamos pra la pra tocar de novo, com a banda Glória… rs  eh cada coisa… iuheuiehuea

sabado passado teve show do Huaska em campinas no festival Autorock, la no Bar do Zé, junto com o Garage Fuzz.

sempre adorei o BdZ, inclusive quando era no antigo lugar, do outro lado da avenida. essa balada de Rock devia ser tombada pela prefeitura!

mas voltando ao assunto: o show foi animal, muita gente veio elogiar a ousadia dos malucos que tocam “bossa metal” ou algo assim… teve fila pelos CDs e o show foi muito legal.

também sobre o Huaska vale dizer que o clipe novo ta ficando pronto e está sendo feito pela VideBase, produtora la de campinas com um pessoal mto foda.

bom, como todos sabem o nosso selo Objeto Sonoro ta mandando ver nos lançamentos, mesmo tendo pouco mais de um ano de existencia.
e como toda gravadora que se preze, temos que fazer LPs!

Estou com a ideia fixa ja faz muito tempo de lancar um Vinil. o problema é que a unica fabrica que tinha no Brasil, a Poly Som, fechou faz um tempao.

pra ter ideia to tamanho da minha teimosia, na época dos Misturada (pré Objeto Sonoro) eu tinha entrado em contato com a Poly Som do RJ pra tentar fazer uns vinis… mas deu em nada pq a grana era curta…

ve que absurdo: uma producao de algo aparentemente ultrapassado, uma bolacha de vinil, toda riscada (digo isso pq a Tucson da Hyundai é fabricada no Brasil – e nao, eu nao entendo de carros hehehe) e nao conseguimos fazer um misero LP de Vinil nesse país! Isso é uma safadeza, como diria o mano kiabbo!

mas to vendo que tem um pessoal que nao desiste nunca e está mandando fazer vinil fora do brazuca e to tentando ver como eh a parada…

pra ver como eh o Brasil… o Ministério da Cultura ficou “sensibilizado” com a classe artistica e resolveu apoiar e ajudar na reabertura da corajosa fabrica de vinil do RJ, mas isso ja faz 3 anos e até agora nada! porra, MinC, ve se ajuda em alguma coisa!
